SoCal: Warm and muggy day ahead as excessive heat warnings continue. High of 82° for LA/OC Metro area and upper 70s for the beaches. The risk for new fires to spark in parts of Northern California is higher than normal on Tuesday. KCRA 3 is calling Tuesday an Impact Day specifically for the Sierra region because of the increased risk of wildfire. Because those thunderstorms are not going to be accompanied by rain — often called dry lightning — a stray lightning bolt could lead to a grass fire. The threat for thunderstorms decreases closer to sunset hours. Source: Police frequency
