Voltaire (1950)

Brook Green, London. M/S of a glamorous girl sitting and knitting in an armchair. A lightbulb goes out next to her and she takes the shot one out, burning her fingers. Magician Voltaire stands in front of some kind of complicated electrical machine. He holds out a lightbulb in his hand and it lights up. He hands it to the girl who puts it in the lamp. Voltaire does several more tricks, making bulbs light up in his hands and in glasses of water, just by holding onto them. A man watching looks amazed but dopey. Final shot shows the lightbulb in a glass on a tray, conducting an electric charge towards a cocktail shaker and the top of a bottle of Gordon’s Gin. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
