Frederic Rzewski, piano - ’Rising’ (2016) & The People United Will Never Be Defeated! (1975)

The internationally acclaimed American composer and pianist Frederic Rzewski (pronounced zheff-skee) performs in ‘Hope & Remembrance,’ the opening concert of the 2016 4th Dublin International Piano Festival & Summer Academy in Dublin’s Hugh Lane Gallery on Saturday 23rd July at 1:00pm. ‘Hope & Remembrance’ an emotionally charged and highly anticipated concert, featuring the world premiere of a reworking of the traditional Irish ballad Foggy Dew, a piece specially commissioned by the festival directors and supported by Arts Council of Ireland funding to commemorate the 1916 Centenary.
