‘Hypocrisy’: Renewables festival caught using diesel generators to power stalls

Sky News host Chris Kenny highlights the “hypocrisy” of a festival promoting renewable energy using diesel generators to power some of its food stalls. The ‘Off-Grid Living Festival’ in Chiltern, Victoria is a weekend to celebrate and investigate sustainable living in Australia. Half of the stalls were powered by solar, however, festival organisers confirmed food stalls which needed “ridiculous amounts of energy” required a diesel generator. “Solar and wind are all well and good if they’re available, if the sun is shining and the wind is blowing and as long as you don’t need a lot of power,” Mr Kenny said. “Maybe they’ll market it next year as the Chiltern Off-Grid Diesel Festival – a rival for the Denny Ute Muster across the river.”
