Full title reads: “Trudy’s welcome home. All New York turned out to give ecstatic welcome to Miss Ederle, first woman to swim the Channel“. New York City, United States of America (.) Various shots of Gertrude Ederle, surrounded by friends and family on deck of an ocean liner coming into dock. Everyone is in high spirits, Gertrude points to an American flag next to her. An older woman (Gertrude’s mother) puts her arms around her and gives her an affectionate kiss. An older man (her father?) holds corner of American flag. High angled L/S of a ticker tape parade going up 5th avenue, cheering crowds line the route. We see Gertrude sitting on back seat of open topped car, she waves at passing crowds.
