Brazil’s official coronavirus death toll is now the second highest in the world, surpassed only by the US. The Brazilian health ministry says 41,800 people have died of COVID-19, overtaking Great Britain. Experts say the real number could be much higher, but the World Health Organization says the health system is coping. Brazil is reopening shops across the country, although the virus is still circulating widely among the population.
