Can’t wait to get back to Canal street. I gotta get back my beat. I’m going back to New Orleans. I wanna play some rock n roll. Set up a chair on Frenchmen Street. Put a tip jar at my feet. I feel it, it’s good for my soul. Just to play that rock n roll. Here come the cops to chase me away. Make me come back some other day. My soul is dark as coal. But I gotta play that rock n roll. Baby baby, set me free. Yeah baby, just you and me. Baby baby, I’m up a tree. Baby baby, rescue me.

More than likely, this is the last original rocker from singer/songwriter Ric Zweig. It took six (6) years to finally finish Ric’s tribute to the great city of New Orleans. When Ric and his old band ’Fresh Air’ moved to Nola in 2016, this was the only tune he was able to write in his six (6) months of residence. Credit goes to @TonyCat, the producer and director of ’Rescue Me’ for resuscitating this project and providing the impetus for getting it done.

Tony and Ric jammed this tune countless times at Ric’s home studio leading to this production in Hollywood Florida. Tony played the lead electric guitar and drums. The initial takes were originally intended to be scratch tracks, but were later kept on the record. The bass guitar was recorded by the legendary @AndyRehfeldt and sent overnight from California. When it was time to record the video, Tony recruited his most trusted cinematographer Julio Martinez (July Martini) who frequently films for Hit Wave Music. We sincerely hope that our faithful viewers will enjoy this effort as much as we had making it.
