Titles read: “NEWSBRIEFS“. Various locations of events. Outside Lincoln Cathedral we see various shots of Squadron Leader John Nettleton VC after his marriage to WAAF Officer Betty Havelock. Both are in uniform; they pose with a glass of sherry (?) each. Nettleton lead the Augsburg daylight raid. In Northern Ireland, we see American soldiers playing baseball on a football pitch. A large crowd watches the event. Commentator says in very clipped tones: “Maybe our chaps will be teaching the doughboys to play football in exchange for lessons in baseball“. In South Africa we see the Governor General Lord Clarendon presenting medals and awards to the three South African services. The DSO goes to Captain Quirk of the Air Force and another to airman Lieutenant Bob Kershaw whose portrait appears on South African wartime postage stamps. Prime Minister General Smuts sits watching.
