Jean Schlumberger Henri Picq Sapphire Diamond Ring M1908

A magnificent central cut cornered step-cut gem quality sapphire weighting 30 carats, claw set within a pave-set brilliant-cut diamond mount, with 18-carat yellow gold bead accents, above pave-set brilliant-cut diamond shoulders, approximately 5 carats in total. Signed Schlumberger on a plaque under the gallery. The shank is stamped with the maker’s mark of the atelier Henri Picq of Cartier ’Tutti Frutti’ fame. French marks. Circa 1950. Accompanied by a certificate from SSEF stating that the sapphire is of Ceylon origin with no indications of any clarity or colour enhancements. The sapphire is of exceptional clarity and colour, which is very rare for sapphires of this size. A breathtaking ring from one of the master jewellery designers of the 20th century and one of the most prominent Parisian workshops.
