Tall-e Takht massive little known ancient platform in Iran

The so-called knobs on stone blocks, large stone blocks weighing about 6 tons or even more. Official Information:- Tall-e Takht, Marvdasht city, Fars Province, Iran. Tall-e Takht (in translation - Throne Hill) is a stone platform a kilometre north east from Pasagardae. The great stone platform (once thought to be a fort) is made of finely dressed stones and was constructed by Cyrus the Great (559 - 529 BCE) but was abandoned quite abruptly after his death in 530 BCE. Like the acropolis in Athens, it may have been intended as a massive fortified plinth to hold palaces and temples. This was, in fact, realized later at Persepolis when Cyrus’ successors built their palaces on large plinths somewhat similar to Tall-i Takht. Built on a natural hill this 6000 square metre fort is constructed of mud brick with a fine stone base. The platform is 80 m long and 15 m high and is made up of some 20 layers of huge stone slabs having up to six tons weight. For help to vlad9vt channel on PayPal: vlkudin2@gm
