Esfir Shub’s “Ispanija“ (1939)

“Ispanija“ (Spain) is an archival documentary directed by Esfir Shub in the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War. She used footage of the conflict that had been filmed by two Russian war correspondents, Roman Karmen and Boris Makaseyev, in addition to propaganda material from both sides, stolen from Republican and Fascist cameramen alike.
