Puppy’s jaw badly fractured after accident, now loves life!

The first thing we saw were this puppy’s paws that were stained with blood. But the injury wasn’t to his legs; it was blood coming from his mouth after being hit in the face by a passing vehicle. With his remaining teeth protruding wildly from the side, his jaw was askew and he screamed in pain. Our hearts broke; it was an extremely serious injury. We gently lifted him and tried to reassure him as we hurried him to the ambulance that we’d do our best to save his life. Once he arrived at the hospital, we treated him for pain and assessed the extensive damage. He would need surgery as soon as possible. We inserted an IV for hydration, nourishment and medicine, and scheduled his surgery for the next morning so that his stomach would be empty. The surgery was a success, but we couldn’t say when he’d be able to eat by himself. The next day he tried, but couldn’t really do it. And then, day 4, wow! Once he got the hang of it with his newly wired jaw, he gobbled with enthusiasm and hasn’t stopped wagging that little tail since. Meet mischievous, prancing, bouncing, twirling ecstatic Twizz now!
