Based on the traditional all-female, Kuwaiti wedding ceremony of the same name. The work centers around subverting the complex motions, music, gender and social roles of the Yelwa, in order to explore them out of context. Creating an experience that addresses and contemplates the structure of the ceremony, detached from it’s original function and purpose.“
