aluminium-battery-2

aluminium battery using sodium hydroxide in the anode and manganese dioxide cathode in sulfuric acid. The anode and cathode are assembled on 2 pieces of foam. the foam absorbs the electrolyte. Sodium hydroxide is absorbed on to a piece of foam to form the anode. Sulfuric acid with a pH of 2 or less is absorbed onto the other piece of foam to form the cathode. Manganese dioxide is rubbed onto the cathode and a piece of graphite sheet is placed on top to act as the current collector.
