Second version of my self-made induction machine with a disc diameter of 80cm.
Occasionally, for no apparent reason, the polarity of the electrodes on the Wimshurst machine changed, which is not very useful with polarity defined discharge balls. To solve the problem, I decided to convert the machine to the system used by Bonetti. This has the disadvantage that after a longer standstill of the machine, it does not start to work by itself, but with e.g. a grated PVC pipe a first load must be given. However, since this charge is almost certainly always of the same polarity, the machine always operates in a defined polarity arrangement (neg. large sphere; pos. small sphere). Once the machine is running, it will start by itself for one or two days (depending on the humidity). The main difference to the Wimshurst system is that the discs have no coating and that the cross compensators have no wire brushes that touch the discs. These were replaced by so-called suction combs, as they are located at the main pantog
