Disable MPO to fix Intel, Nvidia & AMD stuttering, black screen, flickering issues on Windows
Multiplane Overlay support (MPO) can be supported by Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) 1.3 and later drivers and was introduced with Windows 8.1. Although it can benefit decreased GPU and CPU workloads, there are reports that disabling MPO can resolve display issues. Here’s how:
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Dwm
Right-click - New - DWORD 32-bit value
Name the new DWORD value “OverlayTestMode“
Change OverlayTestMode DWORD value to “00000005“
