Oakham Pageant (1947)

Unused / unissued footage - dates and locations unclear / unknown. Oakham, Leicestershire (formerly Rutland) - 1947. Short general shots of the town of Oakham. A police band leads a procession of RAF men carrying rifles down the crowd lined street followed by a small group of Brownies and floats depicting historical scenes. Signs on the front of the floats read ’Fight For Rutland’s Independence’. A Huntsman with a pack of hounds follows. General shots of people milling about a display ground where the floats are gathered. A little historical scene is acted out by costumed people on a float. On another, two men have a boxing match in Victorian costume - the referee has to hold onto his pillow belly so it doesn’t fall out! Good shots of Oakham pageant.
