Real Madrid pay tribute to Mesut Özil after the former Germany international announced his retirement from football. Özil moved to Real Madrid in 2010 after a series of superb displays at the 2010 World Cup with the German national team, joining a star-studded Real Madrid squad which featured the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos and Xabi Alonso. Özil, who also represented Schalke 04, Werder Bremen, Arsenal, Fenerbahce and Istanbul Basaksehir, won a number of tropies during his time at Real Madrid, including the LaLiga title, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
