This mantle extension will support a flat screen TV. There is a 3/4“ cavity that is formed between the existing mantle top and the mantle extension top. With a large opening in the middle along with a relief at one end of the support bracket we can now have a place to hide all the wiring necessary to connect our TV with the cable box, surround sound system and power. That makes this Mantle Extension a wire hiding marvel. At the time of this recording I found out quickly that the HDMI cables we were using were not long enough. We have ordered longer cables, so keep that in mind if you plan on building one of these Mantle Extensions. We did consider hanging the TV from a swivel bracket but the wiring issues would not have changed so this seemed to be a better option.
