Every summer, the Gould Peterson Memorial Airport (K57) in Tarkio, Missouri hosts a big fly-in event, accompanied every other year by the Wingnuts Flying Circus air show.
My Civil Air Patrol squadron travels two hours to Tarkio to run flight line marshaling and crowd control.
The air show is known as the “World’s Greatest Little Air Show“ because of the airport’s extremely small size, and because the show attracts over 180 planes, including many WWII planes and famous performers.
Chuck Aaron returned in 2015 to fly the Red Bull Aerobatic BO-105 helicopter! This year marks his final season on the air show circuit, so we were all very lucky to watch his performance. I was able to speak with him several times over the weekend, and he was nice enough to let me put two GoPro cameras in his helicopter for his performance!!!
