He is highly praised by Bireli Lagrene and George Benson, and the latter even brought him to the USA for a series of concerts. However, he prefers a lowkey life style and for his entire life, opted to remain in France to teach and to play locally. He was also a disciple of Matelo Ferret (Django’s accompanist) with whom he spent many years. Many of the top young French players studied under Serge.
