Edward Macdowell - Etude de concert Op. 36 (audio + sheet music)

At the request of his friend, fellow virtuoso pianist Teresa Carreño, Edward Macdowell composed his Etude de concert Op. 36 in May of 1889. Teresa wanted a “brilliant and flashy“ composition for her concerts, to which Edward was a bit uneasy at first for he was not used to writing “virtuosic“ music, but obliged to her request nonetheless. The result was indeed virtuosic, as she wanted, with chromatic and octave runs, but he managed to pull off the beauty for the piece, as seen in the melody that transforms throughout. The Etude became a big hit, and eventually became one of his most-played pieces. Please take note that the audio AND sheet music ARE NOT mine.
