Batty Banana Munching At It’s Best

Let’s end the working week on a high and what better way to do that than with a flying-fox enjoying a yummy banana. The lovely bat in this video was eventually released unlike the poor boy with the following story. Mr. Batzilla and I rescued the second largest flying-fox I have ever encountered yesterday and he weighed in at a whopping 1055 grams which is testament to the amount batty food out there. Most adult Black males weigh in at between 750 and 900 grams during an abundant season and this healthy fellow was in superb condition. Unfortunately he had been hit by a car and had sustained injuries that were incompatible with life and he was humanely euthanased. But, life does go on with hopes for a better week next week. #bats #flyingfox
