For those unfamiliar with midgies, they are tiny, blood-sucking insects also known as “No-see-ums,“ “punkies,“ and “biting midges.“ While they can be found worldwide, the Scottish Highland biting midge is particularly notorious. These relentless creatures hunt using CO2 exhaled by humans and animals, swarming their targets and delivering countless itchy bites that make the Scottish outdoors a real challenge during the summer months.
