Schoolgirl Ballerina (1960)

Nice M/S of exterior of the Strand Theatre in daylight; the neon sign says ’The Princess’; tilt down to show the entrance with people walking past. M/S of 12-year-old ballerina Claudia Cravey walking past the theatre entrance; she stops to talk to a man pasting posters for the show to a board; there is a framed picture of Claudia hanging on one of the doors to the theatre. C/Us of the man then of Claudia talking, pan left to show the hanging picture of her. MS of Claudia walking through the stage door. M/S in a dressing room as choreographer Jo Anna is arranging costumes on a rail. Claudia enters and kisses Jo on the cheek (mwyah!), takes her coat off and puts a towel over her shoulders for making up. Great C/U of the dressing table showing hair pins and various cosmetic items as well as Claudia’s books; Jo’s hands pick up some hair pins. C/U of Claudia in stage make-up, with her hair up and a tiara on her head. Commentator tells us Claudia plays the Princess as a child in the “musical fantasy“.
