The Exciplex: Charge Transfer Emission and Absorption of Pyrene and Fullerene aniline complexes

This is a recorded Zoom lecture at the MSc level for chemistry students that are interested in molecular photochemistry. It discusses the different aspects that play a role in the Exciplex formation and decay. It links the discovery of excimer formation to exciplex formation and links this to radiative charge recombination in organic solar cell materials as well as perovskites. Examples containing perylene, pyrene and fullerenes are discussed. Learning objectives: • The exciplex can also be called a charge transfer complex. It is especially the emission that characterizes an exciplex.
