Record snowfall hits Japan! The city of Rumoi in Hokkaido is buried under snow!

Heavy snowstorms hit the Japanese island of Hokkaido. A yellow warning has been issued for some regions. The situation is especially difficult in the city of Rumoi. More than 98 cm of snow fell there in 24 hours. This is more than three times the average snowfall. Life in the city stopped. Local residents post footage of the natural disaster on social networks. Buildings are buried in snow, and people are trying to hide from the elements. Cleaning equipment does not have time to remove snow. Snow mounds more than 2 meters high formed along the roadsides. Public transport is paralyzed. The Japan Meteorological Service said the snowfall will continue for several more days. Authorities are urging people to be careful and stay home if possible.
