Nadine Landry and Stephen Sammy Lind perform “The Lakes of Pontchartrain”, a ballad from the United States about a man who is given shelter by a Louisiana Creole woman. He falls in love with her and asks her to marry him, but she is already promised to a sailor and declines. This haunting, lovely ballad is possibly from the civil war era or perhaps before, even as early as the War of 1812.
