From Mullingar to Rongbuk - Charles Howard-Bury and the Mount Everest Reconnaissance Expedition 1921

Dawson Stelfox (First Irish person to summit Mount Everest), Frank Nugent (Irish Mountaineering Historian) and Beth Hodget from The Alpine Club come together to celebrate the centenary of the 1st Everest expedition led by Charles Howard Bury from Mullingar. About the Speakers: Dawson Stelfox, MBE, is a Belfast architect, an accomplished mountaineer, a qualified international mountain guide and a member of The Alpine Club. He is a past chair and board member of Mountaineering Ireland - the all-Ireland governing body for mountaineering and hill walking. He has climbed worldwide with many fine routes in the Alps and expeditions to the Himalaya. Over many years he has worked with the Irish Nepalese Education Trust, an Ir ish charity helping develop educational opportunities for children in Phuleli and surrounding villages high up in the lap of Mount Everest.
