Eswar Prasad talks about the decentralization of the U.S. dollar

For more: In an exclusive interview with CGTN host Tian Wei, Eswar Prasad, professor of economics at Cornell University, agrees that there are many issues that would point to a weakening U.S. financial system, like a high level of debt or a shaky political system, but none of these issues have hugely impacted the dominance of the dollar as a reserve currency. In regards to the weaponization of the dollar, he says the dominance of the dollar does give the U.S. some geopolitical power, but high and rising levels of debt may portend negative effects on the dollar and the U.S. economy at large.
