Harney Massacre

In 1854 near , a group of angry Lakota Indians wiped out a detachment of soldiers sent to arrest a Lakota warrior who had killed the cow of a pioneer. The government wanted following year a force of 600 soldiers was sent to punish the “guilty“ Indians. The result was the Harney Massacre.
