Yamaboko Junko

Kyoto’s Yamaboko Parade (Parade of the yama and hoko float-carts). Takes place every July 17 from the early morning to mid-afternoon. 32 elaborately decorated float-carts are pulled through downtown to purify the area of epidemics (a tradition since the late 800s CE).
