Georgian MP punched in the face at dispatch box during parliamentary debate
MPs came to blows during a debate in parliament on a controversial foreign agents’ bill after opposition MP Aleko Elisashvili punched the leader of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Mamuka Mdinaradze, in the face during a speech. The bill, which would require organisations that accept funds abroad to register as foreign agents or face possible fines, has polarised Georgia and triggered mass demonstrations in early 2023.
