The Roland SH-09 is a great little monophonic analog synth. With only 1 oscillator, a wide range of cool sounds are possible! Quite simple design, but the basic sound is excellent: the fast envelope, the PWM in combination with the sub oscillator makes that “magic Roland analog sound“ happen.
Quite interesting features as S&H, noise generator, 24 dB filter, ADSR, external signal input (with its own input level slider). The sound architecture is very similar to its successor SH-101, but the SH-09 sounds more like the earlier Roland gear from the 70ies. It really shines when controlled by a sequencer, it has some fantastic percussive sounds. Built like a tank, high quality hardware, easy to repair.
I played the Roland SH-09 with reverb effects from the Lexicon MPX-500 (in the intro) and delay effects from the Korg SDD-3000 (right channel only). On the left channel you can hear the synth dry.
At 3:15 it gets groovy with the Roland TR-606! Enjoy...
