M/S of exterior of novelist Dennis Wheatley’s country house in Lymington, Hampshire, as a man walks past with a wheelbarrow. M/S as Dennis, in overalls, walks through an iron gate in a brick wall and looks up to admire the archway as we pan up to see it. M/S of a ripple-shaped wall (’turret formation’ - it says in the shot list). M/S of Dennis laying bricks at a wall outside the house; C/U as he checks the wall with a spirit level; commentator talks of Dennis’ writing achievements then tells us “this is his main hobby, and the walls of all shapes and sizes in his 3 acre garden testify to his skill and experience“. M/Ss of a white statue with a brick turret behind, then various features of the walls: buttresses and arches. C/U of Dennis chipping away at the base of an old brick, then rubbing it against another to smooth it off.
