Chinatown Winnipeg (June 24, 2016)

There is a “Chinatown“ in Winnipeg. It is located just north of our City Hall. November 18, 1877, the first 3 Chinese arrived from the United States to do laundry business in Winnipeg. July 1, 1886, the first train from Montreal to Vancouver. The first wave of Chinese immigration to the prairies followed. A few more Chinese people came to the Prairies. In the beginning, Chinese people lived wherever in Winnipeg. But, in 1905 -1906, the first Chinese stores were opened on King Street, and another on Alexander Avenue. The Chinese population was formed around these stores by 1909, the area between streets, Main and Princess, and by Avenues Logan and Rupert formed Chinatown. ========================================================== 18 ноября 1877, первые 3 китайцы прибыли из Соединенных Штатов, чтобы заниматься прачечным бизнесом в Виннипеге. 1 июля 1886, первый поезд из Монреаля в Ванкувер.
