Stonelands - Stonelands (full ep, 2023)

I have accidentally had two weeks off DS Sundays with being a bit over-busy, but this week it returns! So, welcome to the first DSS of November, and the first of three featured releases in today’s session. We start with the new dungeon synth project of Laine Chaplain, who has been producing excellently atmospheric granite-toned dsbm with his Armorer project. That same steely, dense darkness pervades the old school melodic ambience of Stonelands self-titled debut, with tracks given evocative titles, that convey the sounds within – the luminous choral swells of Spirits of the Twilight Mire, the chilling echoes of Lost Among Crystalline Caverns. Completed with artwork from the masterful Simon Garðarsson, this is a compelling new project that I will be following closely.
