Kazakhstan: Vehicle rams into police officers amid protests in Aktobe

The Interior Ministry of Kazakhstan released footage of the attack on Thursday. In the video, a VAZ 2114 car breaks through the cordon and drives away, while police officers try to catch up with the offender. Local media reported that one police officer was injured in the attack. The car was found abandoned a few blocks away from the scene. Unauthorised rallies began in the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan on Sunday after prices for liquefied gas rose from 60 to 120 tenge (€ to €; $ to $) per litre from January 1. The price hike came after the government lifted price controls on liquefied petroleum gas citing a need to liberalise the market.
