Even a simple song with 3 chords has so many layers and interesting production. This really is the Beatles in their prime. And yes, it’s a simple song! But it has some surprisingly complex instrumentation. We have 4 percussion parts - drums, tambourine, claves, and I believe the only appearance of a guiro on a Beatles track! John is doing some really interesting “sweeping“ on the Strat, which almost mimics the guiro motion (I can imagine John making fun of Ringo’s guiro playing in the studio and liking the sound so much, it became part of the record). It’s a really interesting ambience, for sure. Some excellent drumming from Ringo here, especially the breaks. I actually had to redo the drums!
