Guitar: 2004 Jason Pickard
Good Friday, 2018.
A “saeta“ is an Andalucian lament (a “Cante Hondo,“ or “deep song“). Henderickx (a Norwegian composer and non-guitarist) composed this piece, “Saeta,“ based on the last seven words of Christ, which are an important part of the Andalucian Holy Week processions, especially in Sevilla. This is the third movement, the “Lamentation of Mary“ and is marked “Doloroso“ (sorrowful) in the score.
