Eurostar Class 373 8000hp AC electric traction motor sound, powering to full speed from a stand

From the front of the train you can hear 8000hp (another 8000hp at the rear) being applied to take 800 tons of train up to 186mph from a standing start. The Class 373’s ’lack’ of power can be felt more on LGV lines south of Paris with steeper gradients. The Original Eurostar sets have circa 30% less power than their TGV equivalents, the worst power to weight ratio of all TGV family trains. Still a lovely fast train though, just takes a bit longer to get up to speed! I prefer these to the newer units that are taking over.
