Devi Durga is Malaimagal, the goddess of the mountains. Consort of Lord Shiva and residing on the left half of his body. She comes riding on a lion to give us strength. Devi Lakshmi is Alaimagal. the goddess of the waves. Consort of Lord Vishnu, she resides on his chest, and comes swooping on an owl to give us auspiciousness. Devi Saraswati is Kalaimagal, the goddess of art. Consort of Lord Brahma, she resides on his tongue. She comes gliding on a swan to give us knowledge.
