Nelson Mandela’s grandson on South Africa’s special role in forging BRICS-based multipolar world order
“We firmly believe that we are beginning to see, particularly through the BRICS family of countries…[an] alternative to the unipolar system” dominated by the West,” Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandela told Sputnik on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, pointing to South Africa’s special role in pushing for the BRICS bloc to open its doors to new members when it hosted the BRICS summit last year.
Commenting on Zimbabwe and Malaysia’s prospects for entry into BRICS , Mandela stressed that “we would want to expand the representation of Latin America, perhaps with the likes of Cuba, Colombia and Venezuela,” as well.
Mandela, grandson of legendary late South African anti-Apartheid leader-turned president Nelson Mandela, is a senior member of South Africa’s National Assembly member, and the chairman of the International Russophile Movement.
