Since her childhood Raquel Kurpershoek has been listening to unadulterated flamenco music. Her mother is from Andalusia and is a flamenco dancer.
In addition, her father, an art historian and traveler, also enriched her life with music that he brought back from his travels through Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, and Cuba.
Influences that are all clearly incorporated in her music on the first EP ’Mil Cosas’.
Raquel has also made an award-winning documentary. ’Traslasierra’ is about the relationship between music and the deaf.
It is an autobiographical documentary in which these two seemingly opposite worlds form a surprising symbiosis.
