LOST TOTP 66 - SUNSHINE SUPERMAN - DONOVAN (Featuring Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones)

’Tip for the Top’ on part 2 of BBC’s ’Top of the Pops 66’ compilation was Donovan’s ’Sunshine Superman’. Thanks to my dad (who happened to tape the TV that night) I have this lost recording to share with you - specifically recorded for their appearance on December 27th 1966. It is introduced by Simon Dee after the Kink’s ’Sunny Afternoon’ and precedes the Seekers’ ’Mornington Ride’ which was Alan Freeman’s ’Tip for the Top’. On top of Donovan’s genius songwriting there is half of the later Led Zeppelin lending a hand. Brilliant stuff. (Boz Hayward, Bert Weill Productions)
