Music from the Karakoram Mountains in the Northern Areas of Pakistan on the border with China -- this particular geography being one of the reasons why this music is so hard to place. Instrument is the czeeghnene, which is apparently pronounced “rinini“ with a guttural r. Recordings done in the early 70s in the city of Gilgit, and released by Nonesuch in 1974.
