Friction Stir Welding: cost-effective welding for highest quality with low energy consumption

At EuroBLECH, KUKA demonstrated how environmentally friendly friction stir welding can be. Thanks to low energy consumption, without the need for fume extraction or anti-glare measures, friction stir welding (FSW) is the optimal welding process for non-ferrous metals with low melting temperatures or for mixed metallic joints. In e-mobility in particular, this technology has become established for welding battery housings, as the seam meets the high requirements for leak tightness and crash resistance. Robot-based friction stir welding can also be used in a very flexible way while keeping investment costs low. The video gives an insight into the process and applications as well as on the product and service portfolio of KUKA.
