Fort Dunlop, Birmingham. Tests are carried out at a research centre to try and prevent aquaplaning, where a vehicle loses control on wet roads. Various shots of water sprayed onto the road, lorries skid down it and spray the camera, men monitor the results. A Bedford SB Duple Bella Vega coach drives along and crashes through a polystyrene wall which we see from the point of view of the cab. Various shots of tyres being tested in the laboratory and treads examined under the microscope. A new tread is developed and the coach does not skid into the wall next time it is tested.
