Zabbaleen: Trash Town - RT Documentary

Zabbaleen is a giant dump and a city of professional scavengers in Egypt. The awful smell distinguishes this place from others. The average life expectancy here does not exceed 55 years, yet people work and live here - right on the trash. Every day locals collect used glass, plastic, and paper in Cairo and bring it home for sorting. The job isn’t prestigious or well-paid - but at least it feeds them. Learn more about life on the enormous land-fill in our documentary, ’Zabbaleen: Trash Town’, to mark this Recycling Day. #HumanStories@rt__documentary
