Master Anko Itosu or Anko Yasutsune was born in 1831-1915 in the Gibo Village of Shuri (the capital city), Okinawa and died on March 26 1915. Itosu’s students included Choki Motobu(1857-1927), Kenwa Mabuni(1887-1952) and Gichin Funakoshi(1868-1957).
